Decmeber Message - 2012

posted Dec 19, 2012, 10:26 AM by McKinley Lodge   [ updated Dec 19, 2012, 10:27 AM ]

Greetings Brethren,

We had another successful Ladies at the Table. Ken Gorgen, PM. lead the kitchen crew consisting of Mike Gorgen, PM., Brian Brietzmann PM, Jeff Stark and Andy Meyers. The tables were set up by Connie Jaremko, Amy Gorgen with the assistance of Madelyn and Elsie. Jeff Stark pulled double duty as server along with Micah Anderson, Rob Beyer and Dan Richardson. Andy Meyer also, pulled double duty as a wine steward along with Chris Goodwin and James Lovett, PM. The cleanup crew consisted of Sherri Goodwin, Jeanie Goodwin, Winnie Moore, the Beyers, the Andersons, and James Lovett, PM. and his friends.

I want to thank everyone that came out and made this evening a huge success.

The installation of officers for next year will be held on December 1st and 2:00pm. Please come out and support our new line.

The first stated meeting in December we will have a very special guest, Santa Clause. Come on out and enjoy a ham dinner with the lodge.

As this year closes, I would like to thank all those who have stepped up and help the lodge. We have some work heading into next year. We need a fund raising committee and a visiting care committee to assist our brethren. Please get a hold of me with your thoughts and ideas.

My wife Connie belongs to P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), one of their newest members is the director of the Waukesha Food Pantry. The day that our food arrived from our fish fry the Food Pantry was down to the bare bones. Please continue to help support the food pantry by bringing a nonperishable item every time you come to McKinley.

Fraternally,

Todd Jaremko

Greetings Brethren,

The Ladies of McKinley baked and served lasagna for Past MasterÃÔ Night at our first stated meeting. The Past Masters met to start discussion on our 100th anniversary. That is right, in less than a year McKinley Lodge will begin its centennial anniversary.

We had a great first half as we watched the Packers take on the Indianapolis Colts. I would like to listen to the talk in the ColtÃÔ locker room at half time because they sure played a different game for the second half.

We had our Fish Fry on October 19th. I would like to thank all the brothers that came out and helped make this a success. These two fish fryÃÔ help raise funds for the lodge and open the building to the general public to see what goes on in the ÅÔecret society/span>

I would like to thank Ken Gorgen, PM and his kitchen crew for baking the cranberry chicken for Ladies at the Table. I would also like to thank my wife Connie, for assisting in planning this wonderful event.

I have noticed that there our brothers standing around idle while other brothers are busy as bees. I understand that this is a lack of my leadership that is causing the stress. And with that I would like to give suggestions while you are at Lodge.

1. If a brother has his hands full ask if you can help him and grab a bag before the snacks are dropped on the kitchen floor

2. If the Lodge is not set up for the meeting, go into the Junior WardenÃÔ Closet and get the gear out. If you donÃÕ know how to set up the Lodge, ask one of the other brothers. And if you are asked how to set the lodge up, help the younger member set the lodge up.

3. If the garbage can is full donÃÕ put more garbage in it, empty it and put a clean plastic bag in it its place. Also, if the liner falls in the garbage can, get it back out.

4. Before leaving the lodge for the night, take a quick look around, can you throw away some paper plates; wipe up a table, put some chairs back in order, check with the acting Junior Warden and see if he needs help.

I have witnessed some of the newer members taking the bull by the horns. This is evidence with the discussion on the directory and the excitement they bring to lodge meetings.

As we get ready for next year, please forward any suggestions for events to me. Maybe there was an event the Lodge did years ago that we should try resurrecting. Maybe you have a new idea, whatever, give me suggestions.

December 6th we will be having dinner with Santa. If you are bringing a child twelve and under please send me an email with the childÃÔ name and age.

Greetings Brethren,

McKinley Lodge would like to congratulate, Jennifer Niggemeier. Jennifer just completed her year as the Grand Bethel Honored Queen for JobÃÔ Daughters in August. Jennifer is also a Past Honored Queen from Bethel 53, which meets at McKinley Masonic Center. Her whole Bethel is very proud of her and the work she accomplished. She is now a freshman at Ripon College. For more information on JobÃÔ daughters please contact Barbra Pasholk (262-679-1590).

McKinley Lodge would like to wish McKenna Nerone all the best as she participates in the National Miss Pageant, which helps to teach leadership, confidence, public speaking, as well as provide her a scholarship for college.McKenna is Brookfield DeMolayÃÔ sweetheart.

The corn and brat night was a huge success. Mike Gorgen PM husked 72 ears of corn and grilled 72 brats. James Stone and James Lovett PM helped in the kitchen and helped serve.

We had a presentation on the York Rite thanks to Joe Balint.

We had our awards banquet. We awarded 25, 50, 60 and 65 year certificates. Thank you brethren for your labor for the craft.

The Packer football game has been moved to October 7th at noon. We will havepizzas and soda. The Packers play the Indianapolis Colts. Go Pack Go

We will then be entering October with the World Famous Fish Fry, on Friday, October 19. This year we will be trying a "Drive Around" for our takeout orders. We are going to position a brother out front to take orders. The carry out orders can be picked up at the kitchenÃÔ back door.

Get ready for November, because it is time for Åadies at the Table Ken Gorgen, PM. has a delicious meal in mind. The topic for this table will be Masonic Presidents Wives.

We had discussion on the proposal for the directory. The brethren would like to keep moving forward to get it accomplished. The brethren are working on getting a template and questions together. We are going to try to contact some brethren by phone and then by mail or email. I would like to thank Tom Hill, Micah Anderson and Ryan Mayrand, PM for charging ahead with this initiative.

We are looking for a Past Master to preside over the lodge for our 100thyear. Please contact Todd Jaremko if you are interested.

We are also, looking for an individual to chair a fund raising committee.

September Message - 2012

posted Dec 19, 2012, 10:19 AM by McKinley Lodge

Greeting Brethren,

It is amazing how fast the summer has come and gone. We adjourned on the last "tux thursday" of June with initiating our newest Entered Apprentice, Josh Young.

We are starting out the fall season with a bang. Mike Gorgen is grilling brats and roasting corn for the first Thursday. It is also, Hawaiian Shirt Night and nice slacks (no shorts). We will also be having a presentation about the York Rite from Joe Balint. Joe as you know has been assisting us on "Tux Thursday" with the various degrees performed.

We will then be entering October with the World Famous Fish Fry, on Friday, October 19. This year we will be trying a "Drive Around" for our takeout orders. We are going to position a brother out front to take orders and then drive around to the kitchen to get it packaged and boxed.

We than head into November with Åadies at the Table Ken Gorgen has a delicious meal in mind. The topic for this table will be Masonic Presidents Wives.

Brother Tom Hill noticed a need for an active directory for the lodge. He took the initiative to reach out to various brothers to form an ad hoc group to begin working on what information they wanted to collect (wifeÃÔ name, children, vocation or services that can be offered). They also are finalizing a method to gather this information. The next temple topic will have a web site address where brothers can fill out a questionnaire online. Also, we have an alternative method for those that still prefer the reliable pencil and paper.

As all know we have a hole in our line that James graciously stepped up and filled this year. However, we are looking for a brother to step up to be Senior Warden and then Master of the Lodge for our 100th anniversary. We have a solid core of brothers that are willing to assist.

We would like to get a a fund raising committee. The lodge is burning through cash at an unacceptable rate. The lodge building is starting to show its age and some tender loving care is needed to bring the building up to standards. I would be looking to put together a pledge drive leading up to McKinley LodgeÃÔ 100th anniversary. There are some fellow crafts that have already expressed some interest and have some other thoughts of a way to raise cash.

Greetings Brethren,

My brethren, first I want to congratulate our newest Master Masons:

Tom Hill
Fred Stark
Micah Anderson
David Fonseca

Please give them a warm welcome. They have been at lodge every stated meeting working on their degrees.

Gerald Fryda was at lodge to witness his son, Dean be initiated an entered apprentice. Congratulations to both
We also passed Brother Robert Bayer to Fellow Craft.

April and May went by very quickly. The brethren were in their tuxes every Thursday night. I would like to thank Chris Goodwin who was able to fill all the positions for all the degrees each time. I would like to thank the brethren for their joyful assistance and a special thanks to brethren that learned a new role to cover the different parts of the degree.

If you would like to learn a new part in a degree, just give me a call. We can get a skilled brother to work with you to ensure your success.

Summer is just around the corner. During the summer we will be having the Wisconsin Dells Trip, a golf outing and picnic at the Milwaukee Zoo with the Scottish Rite.

Mike Gorgen, PM, as set up a block of 10 rooms at Great Wolf Lodge for the McKinley Lodge Dells Trip on August 25 through the 26th. Cost is $151.99 for a room with Two Queen Beds and a pull out couch. This will give you 4 water park passes. Reservations need to be made by June 25th. To reserve do the following:Call 1-800-559-WOLF (9653). The group reservation is #1208MASON1.

When we return from summer we will be having our annual corn and brat roast. Ken and Mike have graciously volunteered their grilling skills. We than will be celebrating the 25, 50 and 60 year anniversary of some of our brethren. It would be extra special to have everyone be a part of these events.

For those of you that have not been at lodge in a while, stop on by. We donÃÕ care if you have been gone for two meetings, twenty meetings or two hundred meetings, you are our brother and we would be glad to see you again. If you cannot stop by, than send us a letter and let us know how you are doing.

Thanks,

Todd Jaremko

posted Dec 19, 2012, 10:15 AM by McKinley Lodge

Greetings Brethren,

Robert Herman passed away on April 6th. He labored in various lodges for fifty eight years. He joined McKinley Lodge in 1999.

May is a quiet month as we enjoy spring in Wisconsin. In June, Ken Gorgen is leading a kitchen crew to create another delicious meal for table lodge. Tickets will be available from officers and Ken Gorgen himself by the time the temple topics have reached your mailbox.

Over the summer we will still be having the Golf Outing and the annual trip to Wisconsin Dells. Stay tune for details.

We are looking for a volunteer to mail out the temple topics at the end of each month. The printer prints, folds, addresses and sorts the temple topics. We need a volunteer to pick up the temple topics from the printer and group them within the four major zip codes for greater Milwaukee (530,531,532 and 533). The individual fills out a simple form and takes the temple topics and forms to the Post Office. I would estimate that it would take a morning or afternoon of time. If you are interested in getting the temple topics out, please give me a call as I really need your help and I will be more than happy to show you what needs to take place.

The Board of Trustees has been extremely busy. They have replaced the outside lights with energy efficient LED bulbs. They estimate that the energy savings alone will pay for improvement. The Ladies of McKinley are assisting the trustees by providing funds to upgrade the ladies restroom. The Trustees have also implemented a cleanup party every fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm, come spend some time with your brothers as they spruce up the lodge.

The lodge hosted the Master Mason Degree Competition. Mike Gorgen led a kitchen crew consisting of Ricardo Vieira, Dan Richardson, Andrew Meyers and Todd Jaremko. The crew prepared a continental breakfast and a lunch of consisting of cold cuts and homemade chicken rice soup, it was a big hit.

The World Famous McKinley Loge Fish Fry was very popular and successful. 205 attended and enjoyed all the fish one could eat. The desserts were provided by the officerÃÔ wives and I want to take time to thank everyone who helped with serving the meal, cleanup and providing an interesting variety of desserts for this wonderful event.

I would like to get two committees up and running before the summer recess. The first committee is the visiting care committee. The purpose of this committee is to check in our brethren that have not been at lodge in a while. This committee will find out if there is a need that should be brought to the attention of the brethren. The committee would than report back to the lodge where more brothers can assist. Remember our obligation is to contribute to the relief of our brethren.

The second committee is the fund raising committee. The lodge is burning through cash at an unacceptable rate. The lodge building is starting to show its age and some tender loving care is needed to bring the building up to standards. I would be looking to put together a pledge drive leading up to McKinley LodgeÃÔ 100th anniversary. There are some fellow crafts that have already expressed some interest and have some other thoughtsof a way to raise cash.

If you are interested in either of these two committees, please give me a call at 262-796-0782 or email me at tjaremko@wi.rr.com .

Greetings Brethren,

I hope everyone enjoyed the fish fry. I would like to thank Chris and his team for once again being the chefs and everyone who added wonderful desserts to make the fish fry dinner complete. I am grateful for all the hard work of the cooks, ticket takers, servers, bus boys and dish washers. Your hard work ensures the success of the fish fry.

We initiated an entered apprentice on the 15th of March. We have two Master Mason degrees slated for the end of April.

The billiards tournament is up and running this month. If you have not signed up and want to shoot some pool with your brothers, give me a call. I am sure we can squeeze you in.

I am saddened to announce that Chuck Wise passed away last month. One of his last duties that he performed was getting the March issue of the temple topics from the printer to your mail box. For many years, Chuck has been sorting the temple topics and filling out the proper permits with the Post Office. I am grateful for all the work that he performed for McKinley Lodge and cherish his memory.

posted Dec 19, 2012, 10:12 AM by McKinley Lodge

Greetings Brethren,

Chris Engel and his team are preparing and cooking the World Famous Fish Fry this March. This will include Joyce's German Potato Salad. I apologize to everyone for my mistake. I am very grateful that Chris's team is still in the kitchen.

I still need assistance for the Fish Fry on March 16th. We need servers, money/food collectors, table clearers and of course dish washers. Please give me a call and volunteer your time. The fish fry is our money maker and we want it to be a great success.

I did not mention in last months topic that we passed four Entered Apprentices to Fellow Craft on January 25th. Therefore we will be raising Fellow Crafts to Master Masons in the next couple of months. If you have not been to a Master Mason degree in a while, I would strongly encourage you to come out and enjoy.

We had fifty attend the cranberry chicken dinner in February.

The lodge came together on February 18th to watch Mr. Popper Penguins. I hope all had a good time.

March 1st Andy Meyer volunteered to cook. We still will need reservations by February 24th.

We will be hosting the Billiards Tournament in April. Please sign up in March during the Lodge Meeting for this Tournament.

posted Dec 19, 2012, 10:11 AM by McKinley Lodge

Greetings Brethren,

I hope that the temple topics find everyone safe, warm and healthy.

We will be starting February with a cranberry chicken dinner with brown rice and vegetables. We are asking that you RSVP so that we can get a good head count. Movie night at the lodge returns February 18th at 7:00PM. The movie will be Ůr. Poppers Penguins, feel free to bring your own camp chairs for comfort. Popcorn and movie treats will be provided.

The officers met the first weekend of January (No Packers Game) and decided to go ahead with the fish fry. This will be the first fish fry in a long time where Chris Engel and his team are not cooking. Therefore we are going to need extra help to put the March fish fry together. We will be asking people to sign up as early as the first stated meeting of February.

The officers are setting up committees to help the lodge grow and thrive. Here is a list of committees that are being formed:

1. FUND RAISING

2. CHARITY/OUT REACH

3. VISITING CARE,

4. FUNERAL

5. 100 YEAR ANNIVERSY

Committee work is a great way to stay active in lodge. It is also an advantage for the lodge because it is having lodge work accomplished from the bottom up instead of being dictated from the top down. We will be sending around a sign-up sheet at the next couple of lodge meetings. If you are not going to be at lodge and would like to be on a committee call me at 262-796-0782) and we will add you to the list.

Are you missing calls from Lodge? When I was configuring the lodge call down list I found that I did not have phone numbers for everyone. Please make sure that we have your phone number on file. You can email it to me at worshipful.master@mckinleylodge.org , or call me at 262-796-0782

In March we will be having a billiards tournament. There will be a sign up sheet at lodge during February and then brothers will get together to shoot some pool. Stay tune for more information.

January Message 2012

posted Dec 19, 2012, 10:09 AM by McKinley Lodge

Greetings Brethren,

I would like to thank Mike and Amy Gorgen for ÅÉosting the dinner with Santa event at lodge. We had over 60 for delicious hot ham and an assortment of side dishes. . Half way through dinner Santa arrived to talk to everyone. After dinner we went to the small lodge room to meet and take pictures with Santa. The children received travel games which they began playing immediately.

I would like to thank everyone that came out for installation. I apologize that the invitations did not get out to the rest of the masonic groups that meet at McKinley. I am working on improving communications.

We will still be collecting for the food pantry over the next year as there is still a demand to be met.

Another collection box is in the foyer of our lodge. The Rainbow Girls are collecting pet related supplies for the Fluffy Dog Rescue. Currently we are in need of pet: toys, puppy food, chews, bleach, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, Clorox clean up, Clorox wipes, paper towels, leashes and small collars.

The clothing drive ended on December 15th. I would thank everyone that filled the box to capacity.

We are not having a meal before the January meeting.. However we will have a dinner event on February 2nd prior to the stated meeting.

We will also be having ÅÎovie night on Saturday February 18th at 7:00pm. Come out to Lodge where we will transform the large dining room into a movie theater. For added comfort I recommend bringing your camping chairs. The popcorn machine will be up and running.

Happy New Year
