Greetings Brethren,

Robert Herman passed away on April 6th. He labored in various lodges for fifty eight years. He joined McKinley Lodge in 1999.

May is a quiet month as we enjoy spring in Wisconsin. In June, Ken Gorgen is leading a kitchen crew to create another delicious meal for table lodge. Tickets will be available from officers and Ken Gorgen himself by the time the temple topics have reached your mailbox.

Over the summer we will still be having the Golf Outing and the annual trip to Wisconsin Dells. Stay tune for details.

We are looking for a volunteer to mail out the temple topics at the end of each month. The printer prints, folds, addresses and sorts the temple topics. We need a volunteer to pick up the temple topics from the printer and group them within the four major zip codes for greater Milwaukee (530,531,532 and 533). The individual fills out a simple form and takes the temple topics and forms to the Post Office. I would estimate that it would take a morning or afternoon of time. If you are interested in getting the temple topics out, please give me a call as I really need your help and I will be more than happy to show you what needs to take place.

The Board of Trustees has been extremely busy. They have replaced the outside lights with energy efficient LED bulbs. They estimate that the energy savings alone will pay for improvement. The Ladies of McKinley are assisting the trustees by providing funds to upgrade the ladies restroom. The Trustees have also implemented a cleanup party every fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm, come spend some time with your brothers as they spruce up the lodge.

The lodge hosted the Master Mason Degree Competition. Mike Gorgen led a kitchen crew consisting of Ricardo Vieira, Dan Richardson, Andrew Meyers and Todd Jaremko. The crew prepared a continental breakfast and a lunch of consisting of cold cuts and homemade chicken rice soup, it was a big hit.

The World Famous McKinley Loge Fish Fry was very popular and successful. 205 attended and enjoyed all the fish one could eat. The desserts were provided by the officerÃÔ wives and I want to take time to thank everyone who helped with serving the meal, cleanup and providing an interesting variety of desserts for this wonderful event.

I would like to get two committees up and running before the summer recess. The first committee is the visiting care committee. The purpose of this committee is to check in our brethren that have not been at lodge in a while. This committee will find out if there is a need that should be brought to the attention of the brethren. The committee would than report back to the lodge where more brothers can assist. Remember our obligation is to contribute to the relief of our brethren.

The second committee is the fund raising committee. The lodge is burning through cash at an unacceptable rate. The lodge building is starting to show its age and some tender loving care is needed to bring the building up to standards. I would be looking to put together a pledge drive leading up to McKinley LodgeÃÔ 100th anniversary. There are some fellow crafts that have already expressed some interest and have some other thoughtsof a way to raise cash.

If you are interested in either of these two committees, please give me a call at 262-796-0782 or email me at tjaremko@wi.rr.com .
