May / June Message

posted May 18, 2016, 3:00 PM by McKinley Lodge   [ updated May 18, 2016, 3:04 PM ]

For the past few months I have been having some medical problems which have prevented me from getting the Temple Topics delivered to the printer on schedule. I apologize to all those who have been receiving their Topics late. Because of the current problem and our history of late issues over the years, I have decided to combine the May and June Temple Topics into a single issue and start fresh with the July edition. You can expect to see the July issue to arrive in June so there will be plenty of time to review the upcoming events before they take place. I would also like to remind everyone that anyone wishing to receive the Temple Topics via email can be added to the list by contacting Worshipful Brother Brian Breitzmann at secretary@mckinleylodge.org.

Again, I offer my sincerest apologies for the hassle I have caused. Please let me know if there is anything the Lodge or I can do for you. If you need assistance getting to Lodge or are in need of any other assistance, please do not hesitate to call me or any of the officers. For this and for all RSVPs, please leave me a voicemail at (262)349-1371 or email me at worshipful.master@mckinleylodge.org .

Greetings Brethren,

I hope all is well with each of you. I look forward to seeing you all soon and hope that we will have the opportunity to improve ourselves together. In April we hosted one of McKinley Lodge’s first Friends Nights. Dubbed Food, Froth, and Fraternity Dartball Night, this event brought many new men to see some of the brotherhood and comradery Masonry has to offer. In addition this gave us a great opportunity to come together as brothers and enjoy each other’s company.

Our next Friends Night will be in June and will be combined with an event I am sure you are all familiar with. Starting this year, Table Lodge will no longer be a tiled event. It will run in much the same way as it has in the past with the difference that we will be using our public opening to start Table Lodge. Because of this key difference, Table Lodge now will be open to Masons of all degrees as well as any man over the age of 18 that is invited by a Mason. As I stated with the last Friends Night, I cannot impress upon you enough how important this event is for McKinley Lodge. Please join your Brothers for a great evening and invite your friends to share in the ceremony and fraternity of Table Lodge. Tickets are still available for $25 per guest and can be purchased from any Lodge officer. If you are unable to reach an officer and need tickets, please contact me so I can get them to you.

In a further effort to facilitate this, McKinley Masonic Center will now be open every 2nd, 4th, and 5th Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. This time will be for practices, committee meetings, and Masonic education as well as game nights, comradery, and any other fraternal purpose. Come join us every Thursday. More specifically for this month: Join us Thursday, April 14 at 6:30 PM for McKinley Lodge’s Food, Froth, and Fraternity Dartball Night. This is a Friends Night so please bring all of your friends that may have an interest in becoming a Mason to meet everyone else’s friends and hopefully some of our future Brothers. I cannot impress upon you enough how important this event is for McKinley Lodge, so please be sure to make time to share with your Brothers and secure our future. I hope to see as many of you as possible at this Friends Night.

February Message

Greetings Brethren,

I hope all is well with each of you. Many of you will be getting phone calls in the coming months from our new Entered Apprentices. We are now asking all newly brought to light brothers to take the time to call and introduce themselves to the brethren. Please welcome them to the craft and offer them encouragement as they begin their quest for more light. Remember, we are all on the same journey, and by helping each other, each of us will be better enabled to reach our destination.

Brothers, I hope to see you all soon and hope that we will have the opportunity to improve ourselves together. To help us find every opportunity to come together as brothers I have attached a complete copy of the 2016 Events Calendar and 2016 Meeting Calendar in this month’s Temple Topics. Please let me know if there is anything the Lodge or I can do for you. For this and for all RSVPs, please leave me a voicemail at (262)349-1371 or email me at worshipful.master@mckinleylodge.org.

January Message

posted Jan 18, 2016, 6:52 AM by McKinley Lodge

Greetings Brethren,

I hope that all of you had a joyous Holiday Season and wish you a happy and productive New Year. As we progress through the year together, you will all learn that I am not much of a writer and that I much prefer more personal means of communication and interaction.  Fortunately, it was gathering together and holding discussions in person that formed the foundation of our Fraternity. This is why I feel it is important to provide opportunities for each of us to get together and experience the benefits of Masonry. By our interactions and discussions, we are able to take the lessons from our rituals and improve ourselves as men. For this reason the other officers and I have prepared a full calendar of events which will be released at the Installation of Officers. However, I would like to give you a quick preview of the next two months. Please note, there are some changes from last month, and additional information about the events has been included.

JANUARY 2016

• In lieu of our First Stated Meeting on Thursday, January 7, at 7:00 pm, McKinley Lodge will be hosting the Grand Master’s Listening Session. This event is open to all Masons and their families and friends.

• On Saturday, January 9, at 2:00 pm, we will have our Annual Installation of Officers. The public ceremony will be followed by hors d’oeuvres and homebrewed beer in the large dining room.

• Starting at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 16, Cub Scout Pack 23 will be hosting their Pinewood Derby at McKinley Masonic Center. Brother Jon Schroeder and I will be guest judges for this event, and I ask that you come and show support to the Scouts that have been so generous in helping us with bussing at our dinners.

• Our Second Stated Meeting will be held on its regular night and time, Thursday, January 21 at 7:30 pm, with food and fellowship to follow. (The suggested dress for this meeting is semi-formal.415)

• We will be hosting our Third Annual Bunco Night at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 30. We will be serving snacks and beverages. This event is open to all Masons and their families, friends, and prospective members. The cost will be $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased from officers or RSVP by Saturday, January 23.

FEBRUARY 2016

• On Thursday, February 4, at 6:00 pm, we will be hosting a Valentines Dinner for all Brothers and their Ladies. This will be followed by our First Stated Meeting at 7:30 pm. Please RSVP to for the Valentines Dinner by Sunday, January 24. (The suggested dress for this meeting is formal so we can look our best for our Ladies.)

• Our Second Stated Meeting will be held on its regular night and time, Thursday, February 18 at 7:30 pm, with food and fellowship to follow. (The suggested dress for this meeting is business-casual) Following the meeting, we will be setting up for the Spaghetti Dinner.

• Saturday, February 27 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, McKinley #307 will be sponsoring a Scotch Doubles Duck Pin Bowling Tournament at The Thirsty Duck on Bluemound Road in Wauwatosa. The tournament will consist of two hours of bowling followed by a buffet of burgers, Italian sausages, and chicken breasts accompanied by potato salad, pasta salad, potato chips, pickle spears and a full array of condiments and sandwich toppings. Prizes will be awarded after dinner. This event is open to all Masons and their families and friends at a cost of $30 per person. Tickets can be purchased from officers or RSVP by Saturday, February 6.

Brothers, I hope to see you all soon and hope that we will have the opportunity to improve ourselves together. Please let me know if there is anything the Lodge or I can do for you. For this and for all RSVPs, please contact me at (262) 349-1371 or worshipful.master@mckinleylodge.org.
