January Message

Post date: Jan 18, 2016 2:52:03 PM

Greetings Brethren,

I hope that all of you had a joyous Holiday Season and wish you a happy and productive New Year. As we progress through the year together, you will all learn that I am not much of a writer and that I much prefer more personal means of communication and interaction. Fortunately, it was gathering together and holding discussions in person that formed the foundation of our Fraternity. This is why I feel it is important to provide opportunities for each of us to get together and experience the benefits of Masonry. By our interactions and discussions, we are able to take the lessons from our rituals and improve ourselves as men. For this reason the other officers and I have prepared a full calendar of events which will be released at the Installation of Officers. However, I would like to give you a quick preview of the next two months. Please note, there are some changes from last month, and additional information about the events has been included.

JANUARY 2016

• In lieu of our First Stated Meeting on Thursday, January 7, at 7:00 pm, McKinley Lodge will be hosting the Grand Master’s Listening Session. This event is open to all Masons and their families and friends.

• On Saturday, January 9, at 2:00 pm, we will have our Annual Installation of Officers. The public ceremony will be followed by hors d’oeuvres and homebrewed beer in the large dining room.

• Starting at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 16, Cub Scout Pack 23 will be hosting their Pinewood Derby at McKinley Masonic Center. Brother Jon Schroeder and I will be guest judges for this event, and I ask that you come and show support to the Scouts that have been so generous in helping us with bussing at our dinners.

• Our Second Stated Meeting will be held on its regular night and time, Thursday, January 21 at 7:30 pm, with food and fellowship to follow. (The suggested dress for this meeting is semi-formal.415)

• We will be hosting our Third Annual Bunco Night at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 30. We will be serving snacks and beverages. This event is open to all Masons and their families, friends, and prospective members. The cost will be $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased from officers or RSVP by Saturday, January 23.

FEBRUARY 2016

• On Thursday, February 4, at 6:00 pm, we will be hosting a Valentines Dinner for all Brothers and their Ladies. This will be followed by our First Stated Meeting at 7:30 pm. Please RSVP to for the Valentines Dinner by Sunday, January 24. (The suggested dress for this meeting is formal so we can look our best for our Ladies.)

• Our Second Stated Meeting will be held on its regular night and time, Thursday, February 18 at 7:30 pm, with food and fellowship to follow. (The suggested dress for this meeting is business-casual) Following the meeting, we will be setting up for the Spaghetti Dinner.

• Saturday, February 27 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, McKinley #307 will be sponsoring a Scotch Doubles Duck Pin Bowling Tournament at The Thirsty Duck on Bluemound Road in Wauwatosa. The tournament will consist of two hours of bowling followed by a buffet of burgers, Italian sausages, and chicken breasts accompanied by potato salad, pasta salad, potato chips, pickle spears and a full array of condiments and sandwich toppings. Prizes will be awarded after dinner. This event is open to all Masons and their families and friends at a cost of $30 per person. Tickets can be purchased from officers or RSVP by Saturday, February 6.
