September Message 2011

Post date: Dec 19, 2012 6:01:03 PM

Greetings Brethren,

I hope you all had a fun and safe summer. I am sure everyone enjoyed the nice weather and long evenings with friends and family. I know I sure did.

Prior to going on our summer recess, we raised two brethren to the degree of Master Mason. On May 26th Brother Dan Richardson was raised and on June 23rd Brother Brian Carter was raised. I would like to first congratulate both brethren on their advancement. I would also like to thank everyone who participated and attended the degrees as it made the evenings special for both brethren. When you come back to the Lodge this fall make sure you take time greet these brethren and congratulate them. Also, we will have a lot of degree work this fall, so make sure to stay tuned to the happenings of the Lodge. I know the candidates appreciate your attendance.

Though the Lodge was in recess this summer, there were several activities held. On July 10th, the Lodge participated in the Scottish Rite Masonic Zoofari. This event included admission into the Zoo and a very nice cookout lunch. Even though it was very hot that day, and I know it was as my ice cream was almost completely melted in two minutes, there were quite a few members in attendance. It is always good to see the members and their families. In August we had two events. On August 21st we had our annual golf outing with Lincoln Lodge and on August 27th through the 28th we had our annual trip to the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells. However, at the time of writing this, the events had not occurred. So, I will update you on those activities in the next edition.

I would be remised if I did not speak about the Table Lodge in June. This yearÃÔ Table Lodge was one of the best. We had over 60 brethren in attendance enjoying great food, wonderful homebrewed beer and fantastic fellowship. I first would like to thank everyone who helped prepare the meal. We had one of largest kitchen crews helping. With all their assistance, we were able to finish preparing in enough time to enjoy some fun and fellowship. Finally, I would like to thank everyone who helped serve and participate during the meal and helped clean-up afterwards. Without all this assistance, this dinner would not have been successful. So, brethren, remember to look for this event next year and get your tickets early.

As we start into the fall months, I would like to give you a schedule for whatÃÔ coming up. On Thursday, September 1st at 6:00 pm we will be having our annual Corn and Brat Roast prior to the meeting. This dinner is open for friends and families to attend. It is also our tropical shirt night. So make sure to wear your craziest and most colorful tropical shirt. Thursday, September 15th, will be the awards night and meeting. Make sure to come and congratulate those who have given so much time and service to the fraternity. We also have a couple of events in October. On Thursday, October 6th at 6:00 pm is our Past MasterÃÔ Degree Night and Dinner. We will see if those Past Masters still have what it takes to put on a good degree. Past Masters, now would be a good time to start reviewing those ciphers. Then on October 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 pm we will be having our fall All-You-Can-Eat Fish Fry to support the Waukesha County Food Pantry. As always we will be looking to have as much help as possible. The spring Fish Fry was the busiest ever.

The fall is always busy for the Lodge and we are always looking for the brethren and their families to either attend or help out. If you havenÃÕ been to the Lodge in awhile, come and join us. There are a lot of new faces in attendance. I know they would enjoy meeting you. If you need someone to give you a ride, donÃÕ let that stop you. Contact our Secretary, Brother Brian Breitzmann (262-784-4176), and he will be more than happy to help arrange a ride for you.

Fraternally,

Michael A. Gorgen, P.M.
